Jeannie Mai Opens Up About Emotional Toll of Jeezy Divorce

Jeannie Mai is opening up about her divorce from rapper Jeezy (Jay Jenkins), finalized in 2024.

The TV personality shares her emotional turmoil, experience during the relationship, and looks to the future in an iHeartRadio podcast, Question Everything.

Jeannie Mai’s Divorce

Jeannie finally opened up about her divorce on January 29th’s episode of Question Everything. She described the divorce as “experiencing death alive,” with the whole thing being “the worst.”

She delved more into the process of the divorce, sharing that it “forces you to then protect yourself to get what you need.”

Thankfully, Mai had a reason to push through the tough times: her daughter, Monaco. “I am so lucky that Monaco was only one when this happened. She’s not gonna remember what that turmoil is like. That’s not something I want her to ever have to think about. My job is to define peace for her.”

Jeannie Mai and Jeezy’s separation reportedly involved custody talks surrounding Monaco.

On a final note about divorce and her experiences, Mai added,” Divorce is heartbreaking, no matter what. It’s one of the greatest pains that any human has to endure. Divorce does this inhumane thing that forces you to then protect yourself to get what you need from the divorce. It’s the worst.”

Happier Times

Jeezy and Mai married in 2021. Just one year later, in 2022, the pair welcomed daughter Monaco Mai. By 2023, the relationship started to sour, and Jeezy and Mai separated. The divorce was finalized in June 2024.

While the divorce process may have been grueling for Mai, she doesn’t regret the relationship at all. Mai claimed she was “so thankful to have experienced love in so many different ways.”

By experiencing these types of love, Mai will continue to use those memories to define what healthy love looks like for her moving forward.

Not Ruling out Future Marriage

While her most recent marriage ended on rocky terms, Jeannie Mai is not ruling out a future marriage. Mai prizes profound human bonds, and that correlates to marriage and bringing love back into her life.

“I actually would because I really don’t wanna ever put a block on myself,” she said. This sentiment is bolstered by her philosophy that “love should not be restricted by previous experiences.”

Mai’s first marriage was not to Jeezy. She was married to Freddy Harteis before Jeezy, from 2007 to 2018. After that divorce, she married Jeezy in March 2021.

As of now, there is no news of any new partners.

Professional Wins

While still managing her new personal life as a divorcee, Mai is thriving professionally.

She acts as the host and executive producer of America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation. She also dipped into the acting world with the movie Christmas in the Spotlight from 2024.

Her venture into acting has been a “humbling” experience, allowing her to grow and learn professionally.
