Apple Cake Ingredients

  • 5 Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 Cups of Sugar
  • 3 cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 cup of Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 tsp of Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp of Salt
  • 2 tsp of Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

Apple Cake Instructions

  1. Peel the apples, cut them into thin slices, toss them with cinnamon and a 1/2 cup of sugar and let them rest.
  2. Heat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and butter your cake pan.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
  4. Beat the eggs and the remaining sugar in another bowl till fluffy, then stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract.
  5. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients until the batter is smooth. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, place a layer of apples on top, then cover with the rest of the batter.
  6. Decorate the top with the remaining apples.
  7. Bake for about an hour, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool before serving, but remember, a warm apple cake steals hearts!

Tip: Granny Smith apples are perfect for this recipe because they hold their shape and have a sweet-tart taste. And my advice? Don’t rush, tutto a suo tempo (everything in its own time), let the cake cool enough before cutting.
