Family-Favorite Baked Ziti: Simple, Satisfying, and Oh-So-Good

Baked Ziti is one of my go to feel-good comfort food meals that seems to bring everyone in our family to the table and seriously delicious. Made of tender pasta, flavorful marinara, and that irresistible layer of melty cheese. Whether you’re serving it up for a casual weeknight supper or a big family get-together, this classic dish never fails to please. It’s simple to prepare, hearty enough to feed a crowd, and usually has everyone coming back for seconds.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef or Italian sausage to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, ricotta cheese, and meat sauce. Mix well.
- Spread half of the ziti mixture in a greased baking dish. Top with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Add the remaining ziti mixture on top and finish with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
