2022 Horoscopes: What The New Year Has In Store Based On Your Zodiac Sign

While astrology has been around since biblical times, it’s been given a resurgence thanks to social media. With countless accounts dedicated to delivering invaluable foresight about the future to information-hungry users scrolling for a glimmer of hope, astrology is finally regaining the spotlight. If you’re new to the game and need a bit of a refresher, astrology is the art and science of studying where the planets, the sun, the moon and the stars are at a given time to provide an informed explanation of what is going on in the world.

It hits a bit closer to home when zodiac signs — one of the 12 signs correlating to the month in which you were born — are referenced. “A person’s zodiac sign is like an X on a map, so an astrologer can teach you much about where you’ve been, how far you’ve come, and where you could set your sights realistically to go next,” explains Mercedez Gaia, astrologist and founder of The Aquarian Priestess. After the past two years of living in a pandemic, we could all use a positive prediction. Luckily, it looks like the new year has a lot in store for us all. Here, astrologists share 2022 horoscopes for each zodiac sign.

2022 Horoscopes:

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Lucky you, Aries. The beginning of the year looks to be shaping up nicely thanks to the fact that Venus is residing in your 10th house until March and Pluto being present in your 10th house all year long, notes Gaia. “People are loving your work and 2022 is sure to give you power, influence, and authority,” she says. If you’re single, she recommends getting ready for some heightened attraction this winter—potentially through mutual acquaintances of some communal gathering.

Perhaps the biggest thing she says to look forward to is when Jupiter moves into your 1st house this summer, bringing along with it a spirit of wanderlust. “You could find yourself in more arguments or power dynamics than usual this fall,” she says. “The best way to avoid such things would be to channel your focus towards things that expand your perspective of the world whether that looks like you signing up for an online program or booking a one-way ticket to India.”

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

If the start to your year was a bit fuzzy and not what you expected—or hoped for—it’s because of the Venus retrograde, according to Kristin West, celebrity astrology expert and tarot card reader. Don’t worry: Things drastically improve for you come springtime. “Taurus continues to surprise themselves and others with seemingly out-of-character moves—they may have to temper this impulse in late summer when Uranus goes retrograde in their sign,” West says. “The eclipses of the year are focused on Taurus and Scorpio energies, so Taurus has a lot of balancing still to do.” Taurus’ task in 2022? According to West, it’s to become the most authentic version of yourself.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Geminis start out the year with Jupiter conjunction with their 10th hours, which Gaia says may mean big things for your career, potentially by the hand of some mysterious benefactor or mentor. In addition to business opportunities flooding your DMs, she says to expect some exciting opportunities to travel for work.

“Avoid signing any important documents or booking travel accommodations if you can when Mercury goes retrograde in your 9th house on January 14th,” she warns. “Take extra care with the words you choose this year be it out loud or in your mind as Mercury Retrograde periods will be affecting your physical state over the summer and your dating life this fall.” Around the end of July, she says to expect some unexpected events surrounding your finances.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Feeling a bit out-of-sorts at the start of this year? That’s totally normal, according to West. Your challenge for the year ahead will be to learn how to value yourself with a focus on self-love. “Cancer’s flow of money should correct starting in late November and if they can dream it, they can monetize it; however, if they are to attain some of their loftier goals, they need to work on putting their old fears and wounds aside, especially around their father and mother’s relationship,” says West.

“Cancer needs to assess what secrets they may be keeping from themselves just to keep up the status quo and air those out,” she adds Be wary towards the end of the year, as West warns that business communications may be tenuous due to the late December Mercury retrograde.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Leos have a lot to look forward to in their most intimate relationships—both business and romance, according to Gaia. “Venus crossing into your 7th house may just be the boost a colleague or client needs to take things to the next level with you!” she says. “Word to the wise: If you are mixing business with pleasure, try your best to prevent a mess so when Pluto goes retrograde in your 6th house this Spring, you won’t have to choose one over the other.”

Towards the summertime, she says to expect a great transformation in terms of your outlook on life. “You may even feel intrigued enough to study something in-depth or take off on an adventure when Jupiter moves into your 9th house,” she adds.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

For Virgos, 2022 will be the year of romance, play, and renovation of their career, according to Gaia. “There will be plenty of opportunities to rework, rethink or re-invest when Mercury goes retrograde in your houses of work, reputation, and money, and you’ll likely find yourself enjoying life more from indulging in your favorite pastimes to footing the bill for multiple vacations this year rather than the standard one you may usually allot yourself,” she says. “While you’re living your best life out and about this year, you’ll likely attract quite the flirtatious encounters at the beginning of the year while Venus occupies your 5th house.”

Be careful when March rolls around, as she warns that a new workplace romance may find its way into your reality when Venus moves into your 6th house. “Opportunities for more serious relationships expand for you at the top of the year into early Spring but when Jupiter moves into your 8th house, you might find yourself devoting more time to learning about shadow work or the latest conspiracy theory than your relationship,” she says.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

If you’re already so over 2022, hold on. “Starting the year in a Venus retrograde has been a real downer for Librans, but springtime cheers Libras up,” says West. “Improvements in finances occur early in 2022 when Libra gets a little selfish and assertive.” Come late September and throughout most of October, you can expect to find a new friend who’s ready to celebrate your birthday, she notes.

However, it’s important to watch your communication during the September Mercury retrograde. “It is not the time to sign any partnership agreements in September, personal or business,” she says. “Postpone until mid October, or you may be disappointed.”

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Much will change for scorpios in 2022, especially when it comes to relationships. “Due to Venus’s presence in your 3rd house from the start of the year, you’ll likely feel inspired to open up more to those in your inner circle and find yourself letting love guide the conversation,” says Gaia.

“If you are single, you may attract a romance in your building or perhaps even meet someone through a parent when Venus enters your 4th house in March,” she adds. But before you send those steamy sexts, Gaia warns to think wisely. “Avoid taking action towards encounters when trust hasn’t been established,” she says.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

“Sagittarius has been confronting their dark side and past but will have a respite from that deep work starting in late January as they may struggle starting new projects from August until December,” says West. “New projects need to be started sooner rather than later. It’s okay to feel foolish from time to time.” She recommends being patient with apparent dormancy. “Everyone is a beginner at something, and if you embrace your inner fool, you can eventually become the king or queen of your own kingdom; remember manifestation is a process.”

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

“Capricorns are starting off 2022 with rose-colored glasses and likely attracting romantic suitors seemingly wherever they go until Venus moves out of their 1st house in March,” says Gaia. “There will be opportunities to learn and share your beliefs with those closest to you likely in a way you haven’t before.” She says to expect that both your dating life and finances could come to a pause of momentum this fall between Saturn and Uranus grows stronger. “This is a perfect opportunity to get creative with ways to spend your time doing things you love while spending less.”

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Get ready, Aquarius—this year is going to be one for the books. “With Saturn still occupying your 1st house, you’re likely going to need to be taking rich rest every moment you can get this year because when you’re not resting, Saturn will likely be presenting you with many things you can be doing better,” says Gaia.

“For some of you this could be self-imposed in regards to where you want to be in life and pushing yourself to do a little better than your best when the opportunities present themselves; for others, these growing pains could come from establishing a solid home base for yourself—especially for those of you who are used to living on a whim.” She suggests having as much as you can ahead of the fall so you can find a nice balance between work and rest towards the end of the year.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

“Pisces may have fitful sleep in the second half of the year,” predicts West. She recommends keeping a dream journal, especially in the second half of the year, and testing your luck in the first half while Jupiter is in Pisces. “Act on any money-making ideas you have in the first half of the year and prepare for many celebrations, parties and gatherings,” she says. “The Mercury retrograde of September may have you feeling down, but the devil is in the details during that retrograde, so be sure to have details of any proposals fleshed out fully.”
