A truly magical Christmas starts with hot chocolate and your family curled up on the couch watching some of the best Christmas movies of all time. With a great mix of laughter and lessons, even your teen will want to join in on the fun. Let’s start getting into the holiday spirit with my list of our favorite family friendly Christmas movies.
Elf
This movie centers around Buddy the Elf who mistakenly is brought to the North Pole in Santa’s toy sack. Upon his arrival, Buddy is adopted by Santa and his elves. After overhearing he is not an elf, he decides he needs to find his father in New York City. Follow Buddy on his hilarious quest to discover who he really is, the World’s best cup of coffee and imposter Santas. Elf is a great holiday comedy for young and old.
The Muppet Christmas Carol
An oldie but goodie…. Watch your favorite Muppets in their adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The tale is narrated by Gonzo the Great and Rizzo the Rat who follow the lives of Bob Cratchit played by Kermit the Frog who is Ebenezer Scrooge’s employee played by Michael Caine. Ebenezer Scrooge is selfish, rude and full of hate while Bob Cratchit is loyal, friendly and full of love. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by three ghosts, the past, present and future. Each showing what life without people and without love would be like. Will Scrooge realize the error in his ways and wake up a changed man?
Home Alone
After accidentally being left behind by his family during their Christmas vacation, 9 year old trouble maker Kevin McCallister is left to his own devices. Initially he is enjoying his time alone until he notices that he is being followed and his house watched by a team of burglars. With no one home to help, Kevin must defend his home by any means necessary. Watch Kevin and his antics as he tries to save his home.
The interactions between characters is nothing short of knee slapping fun. However, Home Alone has a deeper message about family bonds which makes it a must watch with you are choosing which Christmas movies to watch with your family.

It’s A Wonderful Life
In this timeless classic George Bailey, husband and father is overwhelmed by a variety of problems that life has left at his feet. As George contemplates his future he saves Clarence, his Guardian Angel who has been sent from Heaven so George can see what life would be like if he had never been born. Throughout this story George soon realizes how many lives he has touched and what would have happened if he wasn’t around to save them.
A Christmas Story
Last, but, certainly not least on my list of Christmas movies is a movie that is based around one simple question. Could a RedRyder BB gun actually be the perfect Christmas present? 9 year old Ralphie only wish for Christmas; that Red Rider bb gun. On his request to Santa and his mother they both tell him no, ‘You’ll shoot your eye out.” Find out if Ralphie will get his Red Rider bb gun under the tree on Christmas morning.
